Popocatépetl ash generated sparks

The following videos were made at Ludwig Maximilians University, Munich. Volcanic ash from Mexico's Popocatépetl volcano is ejected by argon at over 100 bar pressure. It's over in milliseconds. The sparks produced are a few centimetres long. The videos are shot at different frame rates and exposures. The  experimental details and results can be found here
